My opinion:  Ahh... 500 tons of cargo room — a merchants dream.  Too bad the Bulk Freighter is so easy to disable; doing so shouldn't be a problem for any ship, although capturing it may be tricky without a Kestrel, Frigate, or Cruiser.  Flying in a Bulk Freighter is not recommended.  While its 150 tons of cargo space will let you stock up on missles and such, it can only be equipped with one close range weapon, a turret.  The Bulk Freighters beuty lies in being an escort, however they tend to be the target of many pirates so keeping them alive may be a challenge.
